OUR STORY

Maximum Endorphins was the brainchild of Director and head coach Matty Earles a Level 3 Exercise Referral Specialist who is deeply passionate about using physical activity to improve the quality of life of individuals through this platform.

Matty stumbled upon the concept of Maximum Endorphins after a traumatic incident and he was encouraged by his GP to take a prescription for antidepressant medication. At this stage, Matty was not offered a social prescription by his GP but rather than take medication he pursued his own intense physical activity programme. Thus, he realised how much he relied on physical activity for his well-being (having not made the connection before).

After this lightbulb moment, Matty set about training as a Level 3 Exercise on Referral specialist and Maximum Endorphins was born.

The concept of Maximum Endorphins is simple, "if you aren't smiling, you aren't doing it right".

Find a modality of activity that provides you with Maximum Enjoyment, aka Maximum Endorphins.

"Endorphins are hormones that are released when your body feels pain or stress. They are produced in your brain and act as messengers in your body.

Endorphins are produced to help relieve pain, reduce stress and improve mood.

Endorphins can be boosted by exercising, eating, having sex, getting a massage and many other ways"

OUTSIDE OF THE BOX

Matty has a background in amateur boxing as a former Amateur Boxing Association of England boxing coach and chairman of Hockwell Ring ABC. He's learnt through the experience of his athletes that boxing can be a key transforming tool for stronger minds and those wanting increased resilience and confidence through better understanding of their physicality.

Boxing has been demonstrated to have countless positive impacts on mental health and Matty often uses this tool to engage with young people within Luton's pupil referral units and within a weekly junior boxing session he runs to engage young people within the community.

Matty has not always been an active individual. Quite the opposite in fact. As a young man Matty drunk, smoked and partied to excess and it wasn't until around the age of twenty five years old he decided to turn things around.

Over the years Matty has run competitively, been a part of a cycling race team and competed three time for Great Britain Age Group Duathlon Team, twice at  the European Championships and once at World Championships.

Since becoming a personal trainer Matty has drawn on his competitive experiences to provide strength and conditioning programmes for those from the following backgrounds:

  • Professional / Amateur Boxers
  • Elite runners
  • Cyclists
  • Triathletes & Duathletes
  • Para Athletes
  • Weight loss / Gain journey

In his nine to five Matty works as a Healthy Lifestyle Specialist for a local organization, using Physical Activity & Nutrition to improve quality of life for a variety of conditions. These principles are incorporated into all Matts programmes and he draws upon a wide network of specialists to offer other complementary  components to his clients as and when they need them, a real plus to working with Matt.
